Steven Vertz has been a certified speech-language pathologist for 37 years. He is the associate director of the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program at Nova Southeastern University and an instructor in the department. He possesses a wealth of clinical experience in various settings, e.g., public and charter schools, acute care, rehabilitation and state hospitals, outpatient facilities, SNFs, and home health agencies. Additionally, he has held various positions, e.g., service provider, clinical supervisor, and manager. Vertz is in his final year as a member of ASHA's Committee on Nominations and Elections and serving as vice chair of the committee. Additionally, he is a past co-chair of the L’GASP-GLBTQ, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, or Questioning Caucus of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Vertz has been a member of both the Master Chorale of South Florida and the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay and has performed twice with the international tenor, Andrea Bocelli. He lives in Fort Lauderdale with his partner, Keith, and one domestic cat, Remington Steele, aka Remi, and one noisy dog, Barkley von Barksalot.
