Dr. Smith is the Director of Clinical Education and oversees the Clinical Education Experience Orientation A/B/C Experiences courses the students complete during year 3.  She also participates in the Clinical Practicum course series and teaches in the Clinical Practicum 3A and 3B courses.  She serves as a faculty clinical instructor for integrated clinical education and service learning experiences and participates in the Neuromuscular Systems courses. 

Dr. Smith’s primary research interests involve clinical education, and interprofessional education to support student development of core competencies in preparation for interprofessional collaborative practice.

Dr. Smith serves as a member of the curriculum/outcomes committee for the program and as a member of Interprofessional Education Committee for the College of Health Care Services.

Dr. Smith is a Board-Certified Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy and keeps up her practice treating patients with neurologic-related conditions at the NSU Outpatient Physical Therapy Clinic.  She also serves as a clinical mentor for the NSU Neurologic PT Residency program.

Dr. Smith is a member and past Academic Co-Chair for the Florida Consortium of Clinical Educators (FCCE) and is a Southeast District Assembly Representative for the Florida Physical Therapy Association.
