Program Highlights

Our comprehensive one-year fellowship prepares future sports medicine specialists for a rewarding journey of outpatient education, diverse rotations, and active participation in sports medicine clinics and events at NSU and beyond.

  • Dynamic fellowship/subspecialty residency focusing on outpatient education in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), OMM, and Orthopedic Surgery
  • Rotations in Pediatrics, the Differently Abled Athlete, and Internal Medicine
  • Opportunities to concentrate on specific Sports Medicine areas of interest
  • Active participation in the Sports Medicine outpatient clinic at NSU
  • Medical coverage for NSU NCAA Division II sports and North Broward High School District sports
  • Event coverage for various teams and tournaments throughout the year
  • Exposure to professional and semi-professional athletic teams, Special Olympics, and mass events

Eligibility

Candidates must have completed an American Osteopathic Association (AOA)-approved residency in one of the following disciplines:

  • Family Medicine
  • Internal Medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)
  • Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine
  • Preventive Medicine
  • Emergency Medicine

Certification

Successful completion of the program leads to a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine, and it is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association.
