O.T.D. Entry Level - Tampa
Welcome to the Blended NSU Entry-Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (O.T.D.) program at the Tampa Bay Regional Campus (TBRC) located in Clearwater, FL.
This page is intended as a guide for new TBRC O.T.D. students in navigating the orientation processes before classes start in May. We know that you worked hard to meet admission requirements, so we want you to feel the significance of joining the Class of 2028. This page:
- Provides documents that tells you what you need to do before and during orientation.
- Introduces you to the faculty.
- Invites you and your loved ones to attend.
- Shares timelines, calendars, manuals, textbooks, essential functions, travel and housing information, student organization, as well as technology and other participation requirements.
The O.T.D. program comprises an educational journey that blends virtual with face-to-face learning experiences designed with students’ needs and learning style in mind. Using the department’s curriculum model, which is reiterative, rigorous, recursive, and relational, students learn not only the “how,” but also the “why” and the evidence for occupational therapy practice.
The 3 1/3 years of your doctoral preparation will fly swiftly with active engagement in virtual and face-to-face didactic, research, and clinical experiences. These prepare the student to serve as part of a team of interdisciplinary health professionals at various practice settings. Upon graduation, NSU O.T.D. alumni work in places such as hospitals, schools, research facilities, and outpatient and home health settings as well as in emerging practice areas of occupational therapy.
I look forward to meeting each of you and officially welcome you to the NSU family.
Sincerely,
Ricardo C. Carrasco, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA
Director & Professor
