Education:
Dr. Pei-Fen Li’s research interests include dyadic analyses of couples’ relational factors, application of MFT models in Eastern cultures, acculturation of immigrant families, reentry experiences of international students and Solution Focused Brief Therapy intervention with parents of children with Autism. She had participated in MFT International Forum and cultural immersion trips with students in Beijing, Tianjing, Shanghai and Hangzhou, China in 2016 and 2018. In 2017 and 2019, she received a grant from Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange and Quality of Life Grant to study the effectiveness of Solution Focused Group Brief Therapy with parents of children with autism in Taiwan and in southern Florida.
Dr. Li’s supervision style is strengths based, system informed and solution oriented. She facilitates supervises' growth based on their strengths, guides students' thinking/conceptualizing cases systemically and collaboratively work with students to find solutions for their professional development journey. She also highlights the importance of the self of therapist in providing effective therapy services for clients. Teaches: Ethics, Research Methods, Quantitative I and II, Internal and External Practicum, Theories in Family Therapy, International Perspectives of MFT, and Crisis Management.
