The Division of Research and Economic Development (DoR) encourages innovation among Nova Southeastern University's faculty. Nova Southeastern University's (NSU's) Center for Collaborative Research (CCR) is one of the largest and most advanced research facilities in Florida. Located adjacent to the university’s Terry Building on NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus, the 215,000-sq.-ft., six-story CCR is equipped with wet and dry labs; state-of-the-art research equipment, including access to a high-performance computing environment; and other resources, such as Florida LambdaRail, a high-speed broadband service delivery network with connectivity throughout the nation.

The CCR also houses five core laboratories (Flow Cytometry, Genomics, Imaging, Cell Therapies, and Vivarium), bioinformatics support, and a General Clinical Research Center. The core facilities are operated by NSU’s Division of Research and Economic Development (DoR). In addition to the core facilities within the CCR, the CCR houses the EM Papper Laboratory of Clinical Immunology.

The Office of Clinical Research (OCR) is dedicated to supporting Nova Southeastern University faculty members involved in clinical trials. With a team of certified clinical research professionals, the OCR offers administrative assistance and clinical coordination, providing a comprehensive suite of support services to navigate the intricate landscape of healthcare.

The Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) oversees this journey from the initial disclosure of an invention to the final licensing stage, providing invaluable support to Nova Southeastern University faculty members along the way. Services include aiding with patent applications, trademark, and copyright registrations.

The OTT is committed to guiding inventors through the intricate landscape of technology marketing, striving for mutually beneficial outcomes for inventors, investors, and the university. Once a patent application is underway, the OTT initiates targeted marketing efforts to attract potential commercial partners. Should a company express interest, the office facilitates seamless collaboration through various tailored contracts, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for all parties involved.

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Nova Southeastern University is a unit under the direction of the vice president for Institutional Effectiveness, and leads the university's human subject protection program. The IRB reviews research submissions from the NSU research community to ensure they adhere to basic ethical principles underlying the acceptable conduct of research involving human subjects.

Nova Southeastern University encourages the conduct of research in the various colleges and in collaboration with other educational institutions, agencies, and organizations. Our researchers conduct studies contributing to the fields of biomedical, social-behavioral, and community-engaged research. PFRDG Grant

PFRDG directly supports Nova Southeastern University's research-focused core values and strategic priorities by providing seed money for new research, expanding current research initiatives to new levels of competitiveness, and supporting scholarly activities that contribute to general disciplinary knowledge. Each PRG award is funded 50 percent from interest on university-invested funds, and 50 percent from the winning applicant’s college as matching funds.

Quality of Life Grant

Quality of Life Faculty Community-Based Applied Research Grants are awarded for proposals which fall under one or more of the following six categories: autism, criminal justice, children and families, adult general, elderly services, and foster care. 

The KPCOM Faculty Research Grant (FRG)

The KPCOM Faculty Research Grant (FRG) is intended to fund projects to gain preliminary data in order to apply for additional internal and external grants.

  • Funding maximum of $5,000 for July 1–June 30.
  • Funding excludes travel, conferences, and publications.
  • Top three scoring grants will be awarded.
  • Two submission deadlines a year.
  • For the FY27, applications will be due May 22, 2026 and September 25, 2026.

The Martin and Gail Press Health Professions Library includes more than 17,000 print volumes, 700+ electronic books, and 8,000+ active medical/health journal subscriptions in both print and digital formats. Many of the available electronic texts are required textbooks in various courses. The library has ample study space and is home to the Idea Labs, complete with virtual reality technology, a 3D printer, and more. The library also provides a dedicated librarian who specializes in supporting research inquiries for students and faculty members.

"Cureus" is an open access, online medical journal, which provides clinicians, students, faculty members, and researchers a novel and effective platform to publish their clinical and research data. It provides Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine students and faculty members a no-fee and quick turnaround approach to publication with an average of 39 days to publication (26 days median). With an impact factor of 1.1, the journal receives approximately 1.5 million article reads monthly.

NSU’s E.M. Papper Laboratory of Clinical Immunology is an independent lab and offers a range of diagnostic tests, including:

We also conduct gene expression research using the NanoString Analyser.
