Strategic Plan: 2022-2027

Our Vision

We strive to deliver the very best in quality education and professional training within the programs and services offered in the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. We have fully adopted and strongly support Nova Southeastern University’s Vision 2027 as the overarching framework for laying future plans and setting ourselves apart as a distinguished leader in teaching, research and service through excellence and innovation . while being recognized as a preeminent, professional-dominant, doctoral-research university that provides competitive career advantages to its students and produces alumni who serve and lead with integrity.

College Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide equitable and inclusive learner-centered education, both nationally and internationally, for osteopathic medical students, postgraduate trainees, physicians and other professionals.

Through its interprofessional programs, in a diverse and inclusive environment, the college prepares competent and compassionate lifelong learners; supports research, scholarly activity, and community service. The college advocates for the equitable health and welfare of diverse populations, including the medically underserved.

Periodically, all stakeholders from the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine participate in planning and evaluation of strategic goals to address new issues and enhance our commitment to the ongoing priorities as defined by faculty, staff, community leaders and administration. This living document is summarized below.

Strategic Goals (2022-2027)

  1. Diversity and Inclusion:  create sustainable endowment to bring in underrepresented faculty and students; Integrate and improve cultural awareness
  2. Technology: Invest in technology; Create partnerships in technology; Integration of technology into all parts of education
  3. Communication and Collaboration:  Improve inter-collegiate and intra-university communications and collaborations, including with students; Tap into expertise across the entire university
  4. Student Education and Performance: Improve student education and performance outcomes through the use of curricular innovation and technology
  5. Faculty and Staff Retention:  Enhance retention through increased support, to include 360 evaluations of all leaders and administrations
  6. Curriculum Evaluation for Modernization and Redundancy:  To modernize curriculum; To decrease redundancy
  7. Research:  Increased opportunities for students and faculty to do research; Increase funding for research
  8. Medical Outreach:  Expand outreach locally and globally; Determine social factors needed in outreach populations; Determine factors for maintenance of population health
  9. Increasing Visibility of KPCOM:  Increase visibility both locally and globally, including KPCOM clinical services
  10. Wellness:  Integrate wellness into all programs, levels of students
