The Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) is longstanding at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). Founded in 1977, the LLI serves lifelong learning passions of retired adults. The LLI, which is a center within the College of Osteopathic Medicine, is located on NSU's Fort Lauderdale East Campus. The LLI was founded to complete the NSU dream of education spanning a whole lifetime, from preschool to older-adult learning.
Through a unique, inviting environment, the LLI offers challenging educational lectures and social opportunities to connect with other like-minded individuals through field trips and special events. LLI members can take advantage of opportunities to audit classes at the university. Such experiences offer true intergenerational learning while sitting side by side with NSU students and faculty, sharing and learning from each other. View our events calendar.
Many LLI members are retired professionals such as lawyers, doctors, business people, and teachers, or just active people who want to keep learning. Campus membership is about 50 percent female and 50 percent male with an age range from 50 to 90 and an average age of 75. But since when does a number define you?
Our main academic calendar runs from October through May. Classes are offered Monday through Thursday, two times a day. The LLI offers a slightly reduced schedule during the summer months. Some members attend all classes every day, while others select those that best match their personal interests and schedules. Link to NSU Course Wizard.
Since the LLI believes in a total mind, body, spirit approach, a fitness program is offered in our classroom three times a week through a partnership with Silver Sneakers
Nova Southeastern University's Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) provides a vibrant educational environment for mature adults in South Florida. Programs promote intellectual stimulation, physical well being, and social growth that enriches the lives of its members and the community.
