Heartsaver CPR AED Course

The Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Heartsaver CPR AED course teaches basic CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED), and choking relief skills to non-health care providers.

No medical training is required to attend the Heartsaver CPR AED course. Designed for people who need a CPR AED course completion card to meet their career, education, or other regulatory requirements, the course is appropriate for high school students, hospitality workers, personal trainers, daycare workers, and babysitters.

Upon successful completion of the Heartsaver CPR AED course, you'll be issued an American Heart Association (AHA) CPR AED course completion card, valid for 2 years from the course completion date.

What You'll Learn

Heartsaver CPR AED is an instructor-led course performed in a classroom setting. Using the American Heart Association’s research proven Practice-While-Watching technique, you’ll demonstrate skills such as hands-on CPR along with AHA video scenarios. You’ll be monitored by Nova Southeastern University instructors, who will provide feedback throughout the course. The course covers:

  • Adult, child and infant CPR and AED use
  • How to relieve a choking individual: infant, child, and adult
  • Gain experience with our AEDs and adult and infant manikins.

Anyone is eligible for our Heartsaver CPR AED course; no medical training is required.  This course is designed for participants who need a CPR AED course completion card to meet their career, education, or other regulatory requirements. Previous participants have included high school students, hospitality workers, personal trainers, daycare workers, and babysitters.

If you are a health care provider in need or CPR training please see our Basic Life Support (BLS) course.

Don’t think you need the course? More than 350,000 people have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest each year with less than half of them receiving the immediate help they need before professional help arrives.
