I felt that the AIM-High program was a great way for my daughter to gain exposure to different aspects of medicine. I looked forward to the nightly email updates and pictures. I was extremely impressed with all the hands-on activities my daughter was able to experience. My daughter loved the program and is going to participate in AIM-Higher in the summer of 2020.
Growing up, I always knew what I wanted to do; I wanted to help people. I wanted to give people a second chance at living their life. The medical field is so vast that I didn’t know how to achieve my dream. The Nova AIM-High program allowed me to see different areas of medicine, which allowed me to narrow down my options. The classes and lectures that we attended, whether it was practicing athletic training, learning disaster medicine at the Davie firehouse, or becoming certified in CPR and First Aid, helped me discover that my true passion was pediatrics. One day, hopefully, I will become a pediatrician.
AIM High is the best way to have a great summer while getting an inside look into the medical field. Everything was planned out thoroughly and every day you learned a new thing. The best thing is that not only did I had fun, made friends, and learned new things, but I also got CPR certified.
I attended both the AIM-High and AIM-Higher programs at NSU. AIM-High was a week of fast paced, hands-on learning about different fields of medicine alongside NSU staff and medical students. AIM-Higher was more focused on patient care and compassion. I learned so much in two weeks, made some great friends and got CPR certified. I would highly recommend these programs to anyone interested in a career in medicine.
My daughter attended both the AIM-High and AIM-Higher programs. Both programs were very organized and filled with a lot of amazing opportunities for the students to learn about careers in medicine. Besides getting a lot of hands-on medical experience, the kids also participated in two wonderful community service projects. The staff and medical students made this experience one my daughter will never forget.
In the AIM High program I formed friendships with other students interested in medicine, had daily exposure to different medical disciplines, and was mentored by medical students. Wow! At the end of the day, this program will help you decide if you truly want a career in medicine. Better to know sooner, than later. I loved this program!
