Dr. Leonard Levy is a faculty member in research and innovation at NSU's College of Osteopathic Medicine, professor of family medicine, and professor of public health. He served as chair of the NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine Taskforce on Bioterrorism and Weapons of Mass Destruction Preparedness (BWMD) beginning shortly after 9/11, leading it to achieve the status of a national center in September 2006.
Dr. Levy is the primary author of the first article on BWMD preparedness that appeared in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association in September 2002. He provides direction for and leadership in the development and implementation of the comprehensive evaluation plan designed by the team.Dr. Levy also introduced the OSCE concept to NSU-COM and will play a major role in the development of the new COSCEs. As IDEP project director, he will provide coordination in projects for NSU-COM and the Health Professions Division.
He also serves as a faculty member for the Florida Department of Health in its Bioterrorism and School Readiness Program, where he presents seminars to schools throughout the state.
