EMS Education Training

Get critical, life-saving training on Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at NSU. With online and in-person courses, this training is easy to access for faculty, staff, students, and the local community. It is a registered American Heart Association Regional Training Center and was ranked as the best training center in South Florida by the American Heart Association.

Courses are taught by NSU instructors who are emergency room physicians, nurses, and practicing paramedics, and include:

  • Advanced cardiac life support
  • Basic life support
  • Heartsaver CPR/AED
  • Pediatric life support
  • Dental airway management

Hazardous Material Worker Health and Safety Training

Learn the latest on health and safety measures, procedures, and preparedness in relation to hazardous waste and materials through two training programs.

Project SEAMIST (Southeast Area Maritime Industry Safety Training) provides hazardous materials worker health and safety training to individuals employed on ships or those working in the marine shipping industry, including oil rig and oil platform workers, port workers, and law enforcement serving maritime venues.

HazMIRTSI (Hazardous Material Maritime Industry Response Training Safety Initiative) complements hazardous materials training currently provided by SEAMIST by providing critical curricular training focused on hazardous materials disaster response preparedness.
